Camouflage Christians

Matthew 5:15-16

Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

I read there are thirteen different types of camo. They make patterns for deserts, others for water, and of course for wooded areas. The word camouflage means to hide or disguise someone or something. When I go turkey hunting I wear camo clothes, gloves, head mask, and even camo boots, so I can blend in with the woods and hide from the turkey's keen eye. My chances of seeing a turkey increase if my camo disguises me enough that I'm hidden in the back drop of trees.

Being hidden or disguised is great for hunting but not being a Christian. As a Christian we need to let our light shine in this world of darkness. As the redeemed we are commanded to say so, it's our duty to speak up for Jesus, and let this world know we are his child. We would never light a candle and then hide it under a container, no, we would set it on a candlestick and let it shine.

Have you been tempted to hide your faith, or just blend in with friends who are unbelievers? Don't be afraid to pray over your meal in public, or let others know you attend church on Sunday. You could even invite someone to church, all with the intention of letting your light shine. Light always defeats the darkness.
