Don't Listen to Lies

Genesis 3:5-6 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

The devil had to be a real smooth talker to convince two people living in a perfect paradise that God was keeping something good from them. How do you improve on perfect? A place where no one would ever die, get sick, experience pain, heartburn, get tired, or worry, they never got cold or hot, didn't have to work for their food, never got bit by a mosquito, or experienced fear, and God made an in person visit every day. Somehow Satan convinced them something was being withheld from them.

The truth, they had everything they needed to live in an eternal utopia. If they needed anything else God would have give it to them. Satan lied to them, played on their emotions and used their eyes to convince them God was not good. That is the way he operates, he lies to people. Lies become very dangerous when we listen to them long enough that we start to believe them.

At times we have all listened to those lies, that God is withholding something good from us, or maybe He made a mistake when things didn't go as planned. If we are not vigilant the devil will talk us right out of a blessed life and fill it with depression, fear, and anxiety. The Lord said, he is the father of liars, and we all know a liar can't be trusted.

Put your trust in the Lord and He will keep your heart and mind.
