I like watching the program fixer upper. It's amazing how Chip and Joanna can take a run down piece of property and turn it Into a mansion. They take potential clients and show them older homes that can be bought at a lower cost, and the equity is used to fix the home up.
Usually 3 homes are shown and the customers base their decision on which one they feel would best suit their needs after it's remodeled. They purchase a home based on future results. If the home they purchased was the home they ended up with, they would be very unhappy.
I think some people enter a marriage with a fixer upper attitude. The person I'm marrying is not the person I want to spend the rest of my life with, but after I do a little fixing up, they will be exactly what I need. Fixer upper works well on an old homes but not very well on people in marriages.
When you are choosing the person you are going to spend the rest of your life with don't choose the person you think they will become, but the person they are. If we aren't careful we can be unhappy with the results when expectations meets reality.
Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord.
