1 Corinthians 11:1 - Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
My favorite player of the world champion Atlanta Braves is Freddie Freeman. He has won numerous awards including last year's national league most valuable player award. He is the best of the best. In youth leagues across the country players want to be like Freeman. If you want to play like Freddie you are going to have to become a better player, mediocrity will not get you an MVP trophy.
True heroes are important to a society, because they challenge us to become better people. Paul set the bar at the pinnacle when he said, "for me to live is Christ." His highest motivation was for people to see Christ in his life. He had to live up to higher standard to be like Jesus.
Let us choose heroes, leaders, teachers, and friends that will inspire us to be better. One person said if you see a bird flying with a pigeon you know it's not an eagle because pigeons don't fly with eagles. Show me the crowd you are flying with and I can predict your future. If we are going to fly with the eagles, we have to fly higher. Choose your heroes carefully.
