Lazy Days

Proverbs 18:9

He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.

We all have the same amount of time in the day, 24 hours, 1440 minutes, and 86400 seconds. What makes people different is how they use their time. If you sleep until noon every day, time doesn't stop. It continues to pass by while you are sleeping. A slothful person is a lazy person, or as the Scripture states, someone who wastes their time. Once time has passed it can never be regained.

Thomas Edison, who was one of the most famous inventors of all time, had this philosophy, maximize your output so you can increase your success rate. He had a personal goal of one minor invention every ten days and a major invention every six months. He thought if he could channel his energy and put it to work, he could get past all the failures quicker.

I admit that is a different approach, but we would all agree it worked. The bottom line, he was a hard worker. Hard work pays off. One person said, the harder I work the luckier I get; that's funny because it's true. You could make this argument, if a person is fifty percent more active than the normal person, then at their end of life, you could say, he did not just live one life but one and a half lives. If that's true, then it would be possible for someone to also waste half of their life doing nothing.

Harness your time and control it, use it wisely, fight the urge to be slothful. Know your purpose and perform it. God does not put a premium on laziness.
