1 Peter 2:9
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;
Are you a peculiar person? Its someone who is different or stands out. I'm peculiar, actually, I'm more peculiar than I've ever been, not because I've changed, but the world around me has changed. I still love my family, I love them so much I would give my live protecting them. We just became grandparents for the eighth time, and we cried when we saw our new grandson. We actually prayed and thanked God for his precious life.
I still believe in the Biblical model of a family, one man married to one woman. Call me peculiar if you want to, but its who I am. I still believe at birth you can tell if you had a boy or a girl. We never had to go home to figure it out, it was pretty obvious. And we believed in raising boys to be boys and girls to be girls. To me it was common sense. I think a good dose of "peculiar" would help our nation.
I still believe the most important day of the week is Sunday. For the past 40 years on Saturday night we made plans to go to church on Sunday morning. You know why its important? Jesus died for the church! If Jesus gave His life so I can go to church, and get fed from His word, and worship in His presence, and fellowship with God's people, I'm going. I take it serious, I think the church is a place to be reverenced because its God's house. I believe God answers prayer. I still think miracles happen every day. I know heaven and hell are real places, and saved people go to heaven, not good people.
I believe in a free country, and I appreciate the ones who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. I still get chill bumps while I'm STANDING for the national anthem. I'm thankful for all the veterans and active military. If someone has served our country they should not have to beg for help. People shouldn't be forced to forego their freedom and be forced to take a experimental shot if they don't want to, this is America, not China or Russia. Lets act like its America. Wear a mask if you want to, don't wear a a mask if you don't want to. Its called freedom.
I know, I know, I'm peculiar. I like the way bacon smells, and diesel fuel, I'm okay with boots and beards, ladies who wear dresses and have long hair. Every man should have to know how to change a flat tire and change the oil in his car. Ladies should teach their daughters how to be modest and take care of their children and home. You might think I'm peculiar, but the generation before you didn't. I'll wear my "peculiar" like a badge of honor, call me old fashioned, narrow minded, intolerable and I'll just remember the old days and smile, because I know what made this nation great.
