As we have approached what seems to be an unending journey, I’m reminded of this story of encouragement; to never give up. For us, as Children of God we need to remember that our redemption draweth nigh.
A man finds himself stranded in the desert. The temperature is rising well above one hundred degrees. With no shelter the blistering rays of the sun torment him as he tries to push his way through the hot desert sand. He desires to see a shred of hope, but over every sand dune, over every hill, he only finds himself disappointed time and time again as he looks off into a distance of nothing.
As he takes his feeble steps his weary hand reaches for the water bottle that has been empty for hours.
Day two approaches, with no water or food, he realizes that he is getting weaker with every moment spent in the hot barren land.
He looks off into a short distance and sees yet another large sand dune to climb. Seeing no hope, and out of desperation, he drops to the ground and begins to dig for water.
A few hours later a rescue team found him face down in the sand from exhaustion trying to find that one shred of hope.
What the man did not realize is that just over the next hill, just over the next sand dune was a city, a city of refuge, a city to find nourishment and shelter.
It is amazing what a change one more climb can make in a persons life.
Don’t give up child of God, things may seems unbearable right now but I encourage you, ONE MORE CLIMB! This could be the climb that changes everything. Don’t you quit, don’t you give up! Press on!
Weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning.
If you quit in the night you will never see the joy of the morning.
Philippians 3:14
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Christ is our refuge!
