Matthew 27:22
Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus Which is called the Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.
The betrayal of Jesus eventually led to Him being judged by Pilate. The innocent, blameless, and spotless Lamb of God would stand before the great emperor. There in the dark torched lit judgment hall, Pilate would question the very son of God. Pilate's wife would beg him to have nothing to do with Him to not to go forward with this preceding. For it had been shown to her in a dream that He was a just and innocent man. Pilate, believing he must please the crowd, went forward in his questioning. We could certainly spend some time speaking about the questions in which he would ask Jesus, but the most important question I believe he asked, was the question he asked the crowd. "What shall I do then with Jesus which is called the Christ?"
The harsh and enraged crowd cried out to crucify Him, chanting like it was some kind of sports game in which their favorite team was playing. They were then forced with a choice, Barabbas the murderer or Jesus the Christ. The religious among the crowd were so full of hate and so locked into their traditions that they chose to crucify the very Son of God. So I proposed that same question to you. As you make decisions in your life, who shall you release Barabbas or Jesus? What will you do Jesus who is the Christ? He stands before you now.
Choose you this day whom ye will serve.
